What’s Trending in Marketing for Autumn 2022?

A fact about me: I LOVE autumn. 🍂

I’m a huge fan of the knitted jumper/Dr Martens/pumpkin spice latte combo, and so this is pretty much my favourite time of year. 💗

It’s also a very interesting time for marketing – because, as the seasons change, so do trends! ⚡

So, what are our trend predictions for autumn? 💞

More marketing on TikTok and Instagram Reels. This is pretty much a given, as the popularity of the short-form video format continues to skyrocket. 📹

More customers making purchases directly from social media platforms. With both Instagram and TikTok now boasting shopping functions, it’s likely more people will be buying products on the platforms that they use – especially in the run up to Christmas! 🎁

An increase in the use of micro-influencers. The social media backlash to some recent Love Islanders’ brand ambassador deals could mean that more brands seek out micro-influencers in their niche – rather than signing deals with big names who might be seen by their audience as being ‘just in it for the money’. 👱🏻‍♀️

More focus on social audio strategies. Social audio is a relatively new marketing term, and compiles everything from music playlists relevant to your niche (think study or mindfulness playlists) to hosting a brand-specific podcast. Although up until now it’s remained a bit niche, with more of us looking to brighten up those dark winter commutes we imagine that we’ll see more brands getting into social audio soon! 🎙️
