Should I be using AI?

It’s relatively accessible, easy to use, and incredibly powerful – but is AI content creation right for your business?

According to Hootsuite’s Social Trends 2024 report, 61% of organisations say the top reason they use AI for social media is to reduce staff workload.

After all, when it comes to social media, AI is able to assist with everything – from designing graphics and writing captions to producing long-form content.

However, Hootsuite’s research also found that 62% of consumers are less likely to engage with and trust content if they know it was created by an AI application.

So – should you still use it? 🤔

Ultimately, the choice of whether or not to use AI is up to you. But if you do decide to include AI as part of your content strategy, it’s a good idea to make a plan first.

Here’s how:

✨ Know your audience. How receptive will they be to content created by AI? Will they be able to spot the difference? How will they feel about it? The last thing you want to do is alienate your audience, so make sure to do some customer research before you experiment.

✨ Create boundaries. Determine which aspects of content creation can be delegated to AI, and which will still need human creativity and expertise. Perhaps you struggle to research key hashtags, and you’d like some AI assistance – but you still want to write all of your captions yourself for that personal touch.

✨ Make rules. Establish what using AI means for you and your team, and the extent that you’ll use it, to prevent accidents and confusion.
